MotoObsession.com Product Review: Classic No Toil aerosol filter oil

Product description:

The No Toil website describes No Toil filter oil aerosol spray as follows: " Our original No-Toil Air filter oil, in a aerosol can, is a super-tacky, dirt-grabbing, water-resistant filter oil that increases horsepower. It will not wash out with gas, solvents or water alone. But, you’ll be amazed at how quickly and easily your filter will come completely clean with the high concentrated No-Toil Air Filter Cleaner and water. The filter will be super tacky and ready for use quickly due to the alcohol carrier. This oil will work on both foam and fabric filters (K&N) the aerosol container comes with two different spray tips one is Red and is for fabric filters (K&N), and one is white and is for foam filters. "

Performance:

No Toil filter oil performs just as the manufacturer's description states. It is indeed super tacky and does an excellent job of keeping dirt from passing through the air filter. The real beauty of this product though is the fact that an oiled filter can be washed in water using the No Toil cleaner. You can do the job in your kitchen sink or even your laundry because the oil is biodegradable and non toxic. This is a major plus! The fact that a filter can be washed in such a way is the primary reason I use No Toil oil.

A can of Classic No Toil filter oil goes a long way compared to other products I have used. After using it for a while, I discovered I get good coverage simply by spraying a uniform coat of oil onto the outer surfaces of the filter. There is no reason to drench the filter heavily so long as the entire outer surface is uniformly coated. The included wide spray nozzle makes this easier and the color of the oil aids in determining how uniform the oil is applied. After coating, squeezing the filter helps to embed the oil into the foam.

Contrary to the claim that No Toil filter oil increases horse power is the fact that...it does not. Now, I absolutely love No Toil filter oil, but no filter oil can increase horsepower. Filter oil can affect horsepower though, but not because an oil has horsepower affecting properties. If a filter is oiled too heavily, horsepower can be affected simply because the foam is choked with excessive oil, limiting air flow to some degree. The advantage of a spray filter oil is that application can be controlled. Additionally, the amount of oiling can be adjusted depending on riding conditions. For example, oiling heavily would be wise when riding in dry, dusty conditions. If riding in moist conditions where there is no dust, a lightly oiled filter would suffice. Of course, the user must be smart about this.

No Toil filter cleaner

No Toil filter cleaner

Product description:

" No-Toil Filter Cleaner is a concentrated formula designed to mix with water. No solvents are required to clean No-Toil treated air filters. The cleaner breaks down the waterproofing chemicals of the No-Toil filter oil and rim grease, before completely washing the oil, grease, dust and dirt from the filter. The non-toxic, no-fume, no-odor cleaning solution is skin-safe, and can be used to clean filters in a bucket of water or the kitchen sink. It's biodegradable and non-toxic so go ahead and dump the dirty solution right down the drain! "

Performance:

OxiClean What more is there to say about the No Toil cleaner? Nothing other than it works really well. Now let me tell you a dirty little secret. Don't have the cleaner? Forgot to buy some or ran out? Try OxiClean. It works! However, even though OxiClean does the job, it takes a little longer than the No Toil cleaner. Nevertheless, OxiClean is an good option if you can't get the No Toil cleaner.

Conclusion:

Classic No Toil filter oil in the aerosol can is the way to go! The No Toil cleaner is no slouch either. With these products, you get the best of everything when it comes to air filter maintenance. No Toil got it right.
